Pricing Explained

Pricing Explained

Roborubrics has 4 subscription choices:

  • Starter: $10 per month

  • Basic: $25 per month

  • Premium: $50 per month

  • Pro: $100 per month

Each subscription has a word count limit:

  • Starter: 375,000 words per month

  • Basic: 1,875,000 words per month

  • Premium: 3,750,000 words per month

  • Pro: 7,500,000 words per month

How is word count calculated?

The AI that powers roborubrics charges for both reading and generating text. Every time you use the automatic feedback feature for one or multiple documents, the roborubrics AI reads the prompt or criteria, reads the essay, and then generates feedback. For instance, if you intend to offer feedback for a 100-word essay, you might compose 25 words in the criteria section of your rubric. Upon using the automatic feedback feature, the AI may generate 75 words of feedback. The total word count in this scenario would be 200 words.

If a rubric contains more than one row, the AI will read the criteria for the initial row, evaluate the essay, generate feedback, and then proceed to read the criteria in the second row, assess the essay, generate feedback, and subsequently move on to the next row—continuing in this manner. As a result, the more rows of criteria your rubric contains, the faster you'll use up your word count usage limit.

What am I paying for?

At Roborubrics we believe in transparency, and we want you to understand why our service comes with a cost. Artificial intelligence is a remarkable tool that requires significant computational resources. Your subscription helps cover these computational expenses, ensuring you have access to cutting-edge technology. But it's more than just computation – your subscription supports our dedicated team of developers, engineers, and customer support facilitators. This team works tirelessly to ensure your experience with Roborubrics is effortless and that we fullfil our mission to develop technology that makes teachers' lives better.

What set's Roborubrics apart from free services like chatgpt?

While other free services like chatgpt exist, they have limitations. They often function within confined chatbox environments and impose low word count restrictions. In contrast, Roborubrics revolutionizes the way you provide feedback. Roborubrics allows you to provide feedback to hundreds of documents in minutes. It can provide feedback for essays as long as 10,000 words in seconds. We've designed Roborubrics to mitigate bias and inaccuracies, resulting in more reliable and insightful feedback.

What do other AI education services cost?

We've developed a tool that combines affordability with excellence. Other similar AI tools for educators and students are currently priced 10 to 100 times more than Roborubrics. Moreover, these alternatives often resemble chatbot tutors that limit teacher involvement and lack the dynamic interaction that empowers teachers to guide the AI. On the contrary, Roborubrics puts teachers in the driver's seat.

I've heard that AI can have a significant environmental cost, what is Roborubrics to address this?

We acknowledge that AI's computational demands are currently powered with electricity that is primarily generated from non-renewable energy sources. That's why we pledge to donate 5% of our profits to local organizations that are working on tackling two causes that are particularly important to us in Hawaii: renewable energy and reforestation. By donating to local organizations, we ensure that these contributions drive positive change within our community and can help hold these organizations accountable.

Best Practices for Managing AI

Best Practices for Managing AI

During the early stages of developing roborubrics, teachers interviewed students and asked what features they would like to see in an AI-powered autograder. A consistent theme emerged: the need for customization and teacher autonomy. Roborubrics stands out by its ability to empower teachers with AI. While this quality makes Roborubrics the obvious best option for teachers, there can be a learning curve.

The best way to hone your ability to get the most out of Roborubrics is practice.

Play with the tool, have fun with it! Don't worry, you will pick it up quickly.

The following are suggestions that you can use when crafting prompts to use in your rubrics. Follow these practices to ensure effective and accurate evaluation.

Be Clear. Be Specific. Precisely state the expectations.

It's essential to formulate clear and specific prompts that precisely outline the task and expectations. These prompts should encompass key criteria, such as content, structure, and critical thinking.

For example:

While both options will produce results, the prompt on the left is clearly better. The prompt on the left assigns the AI the task of evaluating the essay, then explicitly states the criteria by which the essay should be evaluated. The prompt on the right may still grade the essay and provide helpful feedback, but without an explicit explanation of how the essay should be graded, the feedback may be unpredictable and inconsistent. Being clear and specific will not only result in better feedback, students appreciate and perform better when expectations are clear.

Another example:

How to best use Roborubrics

While all of these options will produce great results, the criteria on the left would be better if split into multiple sections. Breaking the prompt into smaller parts allows the AI to evaluate the writing with fewer parameters in mind, guaranteeing a more specific and thorough response. Moreover, specifying the AI's task, as shown in the right, while redundant, will result in more consistent outcomes.

Question: How did I reach my usage limit so fast?

Answer: The AI that powers roborubrics charges for both reading and generating text. Every time you use the automatic feedback feature for one or multiple documents, the roborubrics AI reads the prompt or criteria, reads the essay, and then generates feedback. This means that the more rows your rubric has, the higher your word count will be, and the faster you will use up your usage limit. For an in depth explanation, please see the pricing explained section above.

Question: How can I get my subscription cost covered by my school/principal?

Answer: You can easily access your receipts or invoices at any time. For step by step instructions please see the manage your subscription section above. When requesting reimbursement, please feel free to use this email template:

Question: What level of control do I have over the AI's feedback decisions, and how can I ensure fairness and prevent bias?

Answer: The feedback generated by Roborubrics is determined by the instructions that you give to it. For example, if your prompt is "Evaluate this essay by writing a Shakespearean style sonnet", it will do so readily. Another example, if you notice that a student's writing lacks sufficient evidence to back their claim you can write criteria that directs the AI to address this: "Offer suggestions for how this student could increase the quantity and qualtity of evidence used to back their claim." If you are unsatisfied with the results, adapt your prompt and try again or simply edit the feedback that has been generated. Remember to be clear, specific, and precisely state the expectations. It is your responsibility to review the feedback generated by Roborubrics. You can follow these best practices to ensure consistent results.
